AQPAMM (Association québécoise des parents et amis de la personne atteinte de maladie mentale).
The AQPAMM supports the families and friends of adults* living with a mental health problem, with or without a diagnosis. It offers information, referral and support and equips its members with the tools to foster a healthy relationship with their loved ones, while taking care of themselves. It is committed to developing services tailored to the changing needs of its members and the community. * exception for youth services.
Psychosocial support: individual follow-up
AQPAMM members have access to one-on-one, couple or family meetings with a counsellor as part of a personalized follow-up. The purpose of this follow-up is to take a step back from the situation to better assess it and change one’s outlook on oneself and the future. This follow-up also helps families and friends become aware of their own needs, the strengths of their loved ones and the possibility of having better perspectives on daily life and the future. Since the follow-up is an “empowerment” service, participants are equipped to deal with their situation and regain their place in the relationship.
